Baseball
Instructions

    • 1
Baseball is played with nine active players per side. One team is "in the field" while the other takes its turn at bat. The goal for the team at bat is to get the player at bat around the three bases on the field and back to home plate. The player at bat literally has a bat, usually a 36-oz. piece of wood, that he swings at a ball thrown to him by the other team's pitcher. The team in the field tries to prevent runs by getting the offensive team's players "out."

Straight from 9GAG - We just love funny stuff!

1775

The American Revolution begun on April 19, 1775.

At about 5 a.m., 700 British troops, on a mission to capture Patriot leaders and seize a Patriot arsenal, march into Lexington to find 77 armed minutemen under Captain John Parker waiting for them on the town's common green. British Major John Pitcairn ordered the outnumbered Patriots to disperse, and after a moment's hesitation the Americans began to drift off the green. Suddenly, the "shot heard around the world" was fired from an undetermined gun, and a cloud of musket smoke soon covered the green. When the brief Battle of Lexington ended, eight Americans lay dead or dying and 10 others were wounded. Only one British soldier was injured, but the American Revolution had begun.

Carnival Break

To all students and followers,

Carnival time is coming, and it's just time to take a break to come back refreshed for a new semester start. Don't be sad if you are not dancing, nor taking part in a samba parade, you can always have the great company of the English Language. Don't face it as studying it (nobody wants to study during Carnival), face it as having fun, with a comedy movie or something.  Sing a rock song, play music out loud (your neighbors won't care), just have fun the way you can. After all, not everyone enjoys Carnival. Well, I gotta go now. See you back on Wednesday.

English, and more English!

Motivation is sure the most important thing when learning English, specially in the beginning. So many fears and conflicts we have to go through in order to learn this so important language. After getting over the first part, motivation can still be a problem too, even if you're an advanced student. Motivation comes from the outside and also from the inside. As English students, we should be motivated by the school, teacher, environment and classmates - outside motivation. How about the motivation that comes from the inside? Well, that one you have to find yourself. But how? The tips I can give you are always related to a favorite band or movie. Moreover, Internet has a great role in motivation. Just think how much of the web content is in English and I'm sure you wouldn't want to be part of those who can't access such content because you aren't able to understand it. Of course, you can use the “translator” to help you, but you also know that it's not going to help you forever. So, find a web site that seems interesting for you, something related to your job, free time, college, etc. I'm sure you will feel much more motivated when knowing you are really part of the web. Already feeling motivated?
